A youth accused of garlic theft escaped from the custody of Supaul Sadar police station on Thursday. The youth was brought by the police to Sadar Hospital for medical examination, where he dodged the police, freed the handcuffs from his hand and ran away. Although after this the police team did a lot of searching, but nothing could be found about him. The absconding youth has been identified as Arvind Kumar, resident of Ward 24 of the city.
It is being told that about 10 days ago, thieves stole about 40 kg of garlic from a shop located on Hatiya Road in Supaul city. Regarding this, the police registered an FIR on the written complaint of the victim shopkeeper and started investigation. In this sequence, the police arrested Arvind, resident of Ward 24 of the city, along with Rohit Kumar and Munna Kamat.
All three were brought to Sadar Hospital for investigation, but Arvind escaped by dodging the police. After medical examination, the police team took the other two accused to appear in the court. Munna Kamat, accused of theft, told in the hospital that he had bought some garlic from Rohit to eat.
SDPO said, action will be taken if anyone is involved in escape
Here, Sadar police station incharge Arun Kumar said that on the complaint of the victim shopkeeper, a case was registered and three people were arrested. If one of the accused has absconded, a separate FIR will be registered against him. Sadar SDPO Alok Kumar said that the matter of absconding of the accused from police custody is serious. This will be investigated. If anyone is involved in his escape then action will be taken against him also.
